Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club cancels annual Brean Swimarathon

-

Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club has cancelled its annual fundraising Swimarathon, which was due to take place this coming weekend.

The seventh Swimarathon, organised by Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club, was due to take place at Brean Splash on Sunday February 4th.

But one of the organisers, George Moon, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am sorry to advise that this event has had to be cancelled due to a lack of support.”

“Despite publicity and several follow-up e-mails from the organisers only four groups wished to take part this year, which is not enough to make the event viable.”

“Brean Splash very kindly make their pool available without charge for a Sunday morning and we felt that with so little take-up it would be unfair for their normal customers to be denied access.”

The event saw local community groups swimming lengths of the pool to raise sponsorship funds for the causes.
