Burnham-On-Sea runners renew wedding vows on Royal wedding day

-

A sporty Burnham-On-Sea couple have renewed their wedding vows during a Highbridge church’s wedding festival on the same day as Saturday’s Royal wedding.

Jayne and Neil Biddiscombe had just finished Saturday’s Parkrun at Highbridge’s Apex Park alongside fellow runner Rev Sharon Crossman from St John’s Church when they decided to visit the church’s wedding festival and have their own special spur-of-the-moment ceremony.

Still dressed in their running clothes, as pictured here, the couple had their wedding vows renewed by Rev Crossman.

Speaking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Jayne said: “Renewing our wedding vows was a spur of the moment decision that we are really glad we made!”

“We were inspired by the wedding weekend at St John’s and decided to do it after Reverend Sharon and I had completed the Burnham Parkrun.”

“We worship at St John’s and Sharon is a friend so renewing our vows turned out to be a really special thing to do.”

Jayne and Neil originally got married in Wales 19 years ago, shortly before they moved to Burnham.

“The St John’s wedding weekend, inspired by the Royal Wedding, prompted us to renew our wedding vows,” she added. “The Church looked really stunning, and our thanks go to the hard work by Liz Davies and her family.”

The wedding festival weekend continues today (Sunday) at St John’s Church with over 20 wedding dresses on show plus historical displays from 11am-5pm.

There is also a special Songs of Praise service at 3pm, followed by cream teas. All are welcome.
