Extra
car parking spaces unveiled for Burnham-On-Sea

More
than £45,000 has been spent on expanding two of Burnham-On-Sea's
car parks to help meet peak summer demand for parking spaces.
The
car park off Lynton Road, pictured, has had its number of spaces
increased by eleven, or 11%. It will be re-named the 'High Street
Shoppers' Car Park' to highlight its proximity to the town's main
shopping centre.
And
the car park next to Burnham's swimming pool in Berrow Road has
been enlarged by ten spaces - equivalent to 16%. It will be re-named
a 'Discount Car Park' to publicise its low charges and encourage
greater usage.
Cllr
Bob Filmer, Sedgemoor District Council's portfolio holder for
Planning and Transport, said: "I hope these extra spaces
will be of benefit to the town and the new names will highlight
the respective roles of the car parks."
The
District Council said it hopes the extra spaces will help relieve
pressure on Pier Street Car Park during the summer.
