Burnham's Picnic In The Park brings out
large crowds of families

Hot
summer weather and a foot-tapping line-up of music ensured the
crowds at Burnham's annual Picnic In The Park had a fun time on
Sunday (July 17th).
Dozens
of groups and families gathered in the town's Manor Gardens to
eat their picnics and listen to a wide variety of music.
Some
took advantage of the weather to top up their tans, while others
retreated to the cool shade of the trees - just like Burnham's
Mayor and Mayoress, pictured below.
Among
the groups at the event were The Ver-o-Neka Big Band (pictured
at the top of this page) and the Rivertones, a male Barbershop
Chorus group from Taunton. The Pillowell Silver Band, who were
the West of England Fourth Section Champions in 2004, also performed
a range of catchy numbers.
Picnic
In The Park is organised by CADS, the Burnham and Highbridge Cultural
Arts and Development Society.
The
group organises three or four free events a year for the benefit
of people in both towns.
Folk
In The Park was held earlier in the year - and the group's next
event will be Jazz in the Park on Sunday September 4th which will
feature music from several well known Jazz bands.
