'Armed
robbers who attacked Burnham Tesco store were not local' - police
Police
investigating an armed robbery at Tescos in Burnham-on-Sea
believe the robbers are not local.
Officers
said on Wednesday that they believe the black Ford galaxy car
used by the robbers, was later discovered nearby in Stoddens Road,
was also used in a biking offence in North Petherton on November
18th at 11.40am.
Police
believe the men involved in this incident are not local and may
well have been staying in accommodation in the Somerset area.
They
are asking people in the accommodation business to contact them
if anyone staying at their premises over the last week or so has
raised suspicion or if they had seen the distinctive black car
nearby.
At
2.15pm on Monday, November 21, 2005, a Securicor guard was transferring
cash from the store to his nearby van when he was confronted by
three masked men carrying knives.
He
was then struck over the head and forced to hand over a bag containing
a large amount of cash, although he was not seriously injured.
Anyone
with information is asked to contact DS Wallis at Bridgwater CID
on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
