Birthday
donation for Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat station
A
generous RNLI enthusiast has marked his 65th birthday by handing
over hundreds of pounds to Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat station this
week.
John
Swayne is a paid-up governor of the charity and decided that to
present donations to the RNLI in lieu of presents.
The
end result was an envelope of cheques to the value of £300,
which were handed over to Burnham RNLI Operations Manager Ricky
Holmes.
John,
who lives in North Petherton, said: "I was brought up by
the sea in Exmouth and have supported the RNLI ever since I started
work."
Mr
Holmes thanked John for his generosity and presented John with
a mounted picture of Burnham's lifeboats as a gesture of thanks.
He
said: "This money will go towards training our volunteer
lifeboat crewmembers at Burnham."
Pictured
above are Operations Manager Ricky Holmes with John Swayne, watched
by lifeboat crew members Lyndon Baker, Simon Hart, and Helen Verrall.
