Burnham
RNLI appeals for lifeboat history information
Local
established author Nick Van Der Bijl and John Sampson (Burnham
Lifeboat Station Education and Visits Officer) are co-writing
a book about the history of lifeboats at Burnham-On-Sea.
The
pair already have a lot of information, but there are some gaps
in the history that need to be filled.
They
wish to hear from anyone with interesting anecdotes and information
about the topic prior to the Burnham-On-Sea station's closure
in 1930. Also needed are photographs, postcards and memorabilia.
John
Sampson said: "It is important to preserve local history,
and the part that lifeboats and the sea have played in it."
John
may be contacted directly by telephoning 01278 788490.
