Burnham-On-Sea
lifeboat crews take part in Bristol Harbour Regatta

Lifeboat
crews from Burnham-On-Sea participated in the annual Bristol Harbour
Regatta on Saturday August 2nd.
Throughout
the day, the crew spoke to members of the public about the role
of the RNLI as well as demonstrating how a capsized D-Class lifeboat
can righted and re-started.
The
highlight of the day was a rescue display by an Atlantic class
lifeboat in the main arena area of the harbour.
The
scenario was set - a broken down boat with a medical emergency
on board. The lifeboat came into the arena, carried out a Casevac,
and returned to tow the stricken vessel to safety. The lifeboat
then gave a display of high and low speed manoeuvrability.
Helmsman
Glenn Cutter said: "This is a great event to be part of as
it gives the public an excellent view of what these boats and
the lifeboat crews are capable of."
Pictures,
taken by Luke Cutter, show Amy Constance to the rescue; the Atlantic
class lifeboat Amy Constance preparing to take the smaller D class
in tow; and the lifeboat giving a display of high and low speed
manoeuvrability.
