Brean Down training exercise for
Burnham and Weston lifeboats
Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI's lifeboats took part in a joint exercise with Weston-super-Mare
RNLI and the Coastguard at Brean Down on Wednesday, September
29.
Burnham's
Atlantic 75 and D-Class boats launched from the town's slipway
at 19:20 hours before setting out towards Brean Down.
"Here,
they were directed by the Coastguard to rescue the imaginary 'casualty',
which in this case was the Weston-super-Mare lifeboat, one mile
north of number one buoy in the Bristol Channel," said an
RNLI spokesman.
He
added: "It was a lengthy exercise that involved plenty of
searching in the dark for the crews."
Both
the Staines Whitfield and D-Class
lifeboats returned to Burnham-On-Sea slipway later in the
evening, at 22:00 hours.
