Fire awareness and first aid training for Burnham RNLI team

RNLI lifeboat crew and shore helpers at Burnham-On-Sea were recently treated to fire awareness and first aid training in a short course designed for the RNLI’s specific needs by Nutec Global Safety.

The training focussed mainly on practical use of various fire extinguishers, and application of practical first aid in RNLI situations.

This was in addition to first aid training, given by the lifeboat station Medical Advisor Doctor Barbara Elliott, on June 1st, 2004.

Burnham-On-Sea Lifeboat Training Co-ordinator Gavin Holman said: "This is a small part of the important training that RNLI crews need to undertake to maintain the professional level of service that the RNLI provide."

Our photo shows Burnham RNLI participants displaying their certificates: Crew member Lyndon Baker, Mechanic/Tractor driver Matt Davies, Tractor Driver Dave Parsons, Crew member Ian Tench, Crew member Pete Badman and shore helper Chaze Melhuish.
