Burnham-On-Sea
lifeboat rescues disabled fishing boat
A
Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat was launched on Friday morning (November
14th) to help a fishing boat in difficulty in the River Parrett.
The
17ft boat had experienced a critical steering gear failure upstream
of Combwich and, as the boats owner was unable to control
the boat, he had run it aground and requested help.
Burnham's
Staines Whitfield lifeboat, pictured, was launched at 6.48am to
tow the stricken boat back to the safety of Combwich. The RNLI
crew returned to Burnham lifeboat station at 7.40am.
Lifeboat
Operations Manager Ricky Holmes told Burnham-On-sea.com: "The
fishing boat was fully equipped with the necessary safety equipment,
but mechanical failure can happen at any time. We were pleased
to be able to help.
