Lifeboat enthusiasts flock to Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI fundraising meeting
The
room at Burnham-On-Sea's Community Centre was filled to overflowing
as almost sixty RNLI enthusiasts attended an open meeting to hear
more about the RNLI's fundraising work and watch film footage
of its rescues.
Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI helmsman Glen Cutter also gave a first-hand account of the
work of the RNLI nin the town with an accompanying slide show.
This was followed by an open forum where members of the public
were able to ask questions and discuss various rescue scenarios.
Members
of the Burnham and District Model Railway Club (pictured) then
presented a £200 cheque donation to the RNLI fundraising
group.
Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI Fundraising Treasurer and acting Chairman Jan Pearce said:
"The cheque from the model railway club was very welcome,
and will go towards the high cost of training our volunteer crews."
And
RNLI fundraising manager Tim Robertson said: "It was a successful
meeting. We are pleased by the number of people who attended."
