Photo special: Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat crews
in helicopter exercise

Burnham-On-Sea's
lifeboat crew took part in a major helicopter training exercise
in the Bristol Channel on Sunday (April 8th).
The
annual exercise saw RNLI lifeboats from Burnham, Weston, Penarth
and Barry working with the RAF's rescue helicopter from Chivenor
in Devon.
Although
visibility was poor, the sea conditions remained calm as Burnham's
Puffin and Staines Whitfield lifeboats took part in the 90-minute
exercise near Brean Down.
The
training tested the expertise of the lifeboats' helmsmen, with
a crewman being winched down onto each of the boats, as pictured
here.
The
RNLI helmsmen had to carefully manoeuvre their lifeboat into position
to ensure the helicopter could safely winch people onboard.
