Somebody had the idea of starting up a holiday swear box - so coffee jars, tins and boxes were pressed into action and the good humoured swearing during the week raised around one hundred and eighty seven pounds. Holidaymaker John Cash, from the Midlands, said: "We think the RNLI is a worthy cause, and enjoyed raising the money." Tony Winterburn, Chairman of Burnham-On-Sea RNLI, was on hand to collect the money on behalf of the RNLI and warmly thanked the fundraisers. He gave a short summary about the expense of running a lifeboat rescue service and the importance of fund-raising. Tony added: "The RNLI is a voluntary service completely funded by public donations, and fund-raising initiatives such as these are greatly appreciated." Our photo shows regulars John Richards, Rod Smith and John Cash with Tony Winterburn, Burnham-On-Sea RNLI chairman, holding the bags of coins from the collection. Related
