Burnham-On-Sea
lifeboat brings stranded jet skier and lifeguard to shore

Burnham-On-Sea's
lifeboat crew was called to help a young jet skier in trouble
in the water off Stert Island on Friday afternoon (August 3rd).
The
girl, aged 15 and from Bridgwater, got into difficulty when her
machine broke down.
With
a falling tide, she and her machine were being swept out into
the Bristol Channel.
Burnham
lifeguard Richie Field, 19, had swum out on his surfboard to help
her, and both he and the youngster were safely brought back to
shore onboard Burnham's D-Class lifeboat, called Puffin, and met
by Burnham Coastguards.
The
jet ski was towed back to the beach, near the town's jetty. Our
photos show the incident underway and, circled below, the jet
skier and lifeguard out in Bridgwater Bay, west of Stert Island's
'number two buoy'.
