Burnham's lifeboat crews rush to
help stranded speedboat

Burnham-On-Sea's
lifeboats rushed to the aid of a stranded speedboat which had
run aground on Stert Island on Tuesday afternoon.
The
speedboat, called Eclipse, suffered engine problems with four
people onboard and, after the Coastguard was alerted, both of
Burnham's lifeboats were launched to assist the craft.
Stuart
Kitchen, from Bridgwater, who was on the Eclipse, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"I switched to a second fuel tank and had problems with an
air lock."
"I
couldn't get the engine going and we drifted onto the back of
the island in very shallow water. Our prop has suffered some damage,
but we're all fine."
The
Staines Whitfield Atlantic 75 lifeboat was launched in just six
minutes after the call came in at around 4.45pm, with the Global
Marine D-Class lifeboat following shortly afterwards.
It's
been a busy few days for Burnham-On-Sea RNLI's crews - this was
the third launch in just six days.
