Burnham lifeboats called to three
men 'trapped' on Brean Down rocks

Burnham-On-Sea's
lifeboats were both called out on Friday evening (July 7th) after
a beach warden reported three people may have been cut off on
rocks at Brean
Down by the incoming
tide.
The
town's two lifeboats - Global Marine and the Staines Whitefield
- were called out at 5.24pm after the Brean beach warden reported
that he had lost sight of the trio who had been clambering on
the rocks near the sea.
A
thorough search of the southern end of the Down was carried out
by coastguards and, minutes later, three men aged 45, 49 and 18
from the St Georges area of Bristol (pictured right with a Coastguard
officer) were found safe and well having managed to climb up to
the safety of the top of the Down.
Both
lifeboats performed a search of the base of the Down to ensure
that the three men had been the ones in difficulty before returning
back to Burnham.
Lifeboats
Press Officer Mike Lang said: "Persons had been seen in an
unsafe location, and Swansea Coastguard Control decided that they
were at risk."
