Stranded
pair rescued from rocks at Brean Down by Burnham lifeboats

A
mother and son stranded
on rocks at Brean Down have been rescued by lifeboat crews from
Burnham-On-Sea.
Both
the 'Staines Whitfield' and 'Puffin' RNLI lifeboats were launched
on Sunday afternoon (September 9th) at 12.46pm after the pair
got into difficulty while attempting to walk around the base of
Brean Down.
Pauline
Reeves, 44, from Erdington in Birmingham, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We'd set out to try and walk around the whole of the Down,
but the tide had started to come in and we clambered up onto the
rocks."
"The
water was rising around us and the rocks were getting covered
one by one. We were getting worried, so I dialled 999 on my mobile
phone to contact the Coastguards."
Both
Burnham lifeboats were on scene within 20 minutes and the pair
were helped onboard the 'Staines Whitfield', where they were given
lifejackets and then taken back to Burnham.
"We are incredibly grateful for the quick response,"
said Kevin Reeves, 18.

The
two were taken onboard the RNLI's launching cart up the beach
at Burnham-On-Sea where they were met by Coastguards.
