Lost dog prompts launch of Burnham-On-Sea's
lifeboat

Burnham-On-Sea's
lifeboat was called out at 5.30pm on Saturday (June 10th) after
reports that a dog had gone missing in Bridgwater Bay.
Global
Marine, the D-Class lifeboat, was launched from the town's slipway
with a crew of two onboard in order to search for the animal,
which was reported to be swiming away from Burnham beach in the
direction of Hinkley Point.
Within
a matter of minutes of launching, however, the search was called
off when the animal's owners reported the dog had returned to
the shore.
The
RNLI performs rescues of animals because pet owners may put their
own safety in jeopardy by venturing into the water after their
animal.
