Meet
Burnham-On-Sea RNLI's latest crew member!
'Cuddles'
doesn't scoff all the biscuits, doesn't talk back and also doesn't
object to being thrown into the water on a regular basis.
In
fact, 'Cuddles' is Burnham RNLI's new rescue dummy, costing over
£500 and donated by the kind regulars of the Orchard Inn
at West Huntspill, after a series of fundraising events held by
landlord and Landlady Barrie and Sue Prickett.
'Cuddles'
weighs a full eight stone and comes with extra weights to increase
body weight to equivalent of full adult size.
This
is the safest way of ensuring lifeboat crew members have experience
of recovering members of the public from the sea, and the dummy
is designed to have the weight distribution of a real person.
These
dummies are expensive, handmade items made to a tough specification
for a specialist market.
Burnham
RNLI Press Officer Mike Lang said: "We are grateful to Barrie
and Sue for their support, and fully support their ongoing fundraising."
