Burnham-On-Sea lifeboats come to 'struggling' windsurfer's aid

Two Burnham-On-Sea lifeboats came to the rescue of a windsurfer (circled above) who was spotted struggling in blustery conditions in Bridgwater Bay on Sunday afternoon (March 16th).

Coastguards had reported the man in difficulty at around 2.30pm and, since both RNLI lifeboats had just finished marshalling a sponsored rowing race in the bay, they were able to quickly divert to help the man.

Lifeboat Operations Manager Ricky Holmes told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The windsurfer had been struggling for several minutes, so both lifeboats were tasked with checking his condition."

"He managed to right himself as they arrived and he was escorted back to the beach area."
