D-Class Lifeboat called to help
speedboat near jetty
Burnham-On-Sea's
D-Class lifeboat was called out by HM Coastguard to assist a disabled
speedboat in Bridgwater Bay, approximately 600 yards from the
town's jetty, on
Thursday September 9.
Although
the crew were paged at 17:13, and the boat launched immediately,
the speedboat owner had managed to reach the shore under his own
power by the time the D-Class
reached the jetty.
The
lifeboat crew stood down, returned to the boathouse, and the boat
was made ready for any further call-outs by 17:31.
RNLI
spokesman Mike Lang said: "The boat was launched extremely
quickly, and was effectively out of the boat house for only around
ten minutes."
