Yacht runs aground in Bridgwater
Bay during passage to Weston
Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI's Staines Whitfield lifeboat
was called
out by Coastguards at 2pm on Thursday August 18th to help a yacht
that had run aground.
The
craft, from Watchet, had run aground in Bridgwater Bay while on
passage to Weston-super-Mare.
As the 27ft, 5 ton triple keel cutter-rigged yacht was stuck fast,
the crew of the Atlantic 75 lifeboat initially stood by while
the yacht was refloated with the incoming tide. The
lifeboat then escorted the boat to Weston's Yacht Club pontoon
in the River Axe.
The
photo above shows the Staines Whitfield being taken down Pier
Street from the RNLI station to Burnham jetty from where it launched.
