Burnham lifeboat
launched to investigate suspicious object
Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI's D Class lifeboat was launched at 08:35 hours on Friday
(April 22) after a suspicious object was seen in
the water off Stert Island.
The
lifeboat, with three crew onboard, were called out by the Coastguard
to perform a search of the northern end of Bridgwater Bay.
They
retrieved a large log of wood which, because it was deemed to
be a possible danger to shipping, was brought back to shore and
taken away for disposal by the Coastguard. The
D Class lifeboat returned to the beach at 08:55 hours.
A
similar launch occurred on February
25 when a log was retrived amid fears by local residents that
it could have been a body.
