Burnham lifeboat helps speedboat
to shore
A
speedboat with three crew onboard was helped to shore by Burnham-On-Sea's
Lifeboat on Tuesday night, August 17, after the craft lost power
and began drifting out of Bridgwater Bay with the falling tide.
Coastguards
called on Burnham-On-Sea RNLI to assist, and the Staines
Whitfield lifeboat was launched shortly afterwards at 21:40.
With
three RNLI crew onboard, led by helm Scott Rundle, the team located
the speedboat 400 yards off the end of Burnham jetty and towed
it to the safety of Brue Yachts in the River Brue estuary to the
south of Burnham-On-Sea.
The
16ft Fletcher speedboat had suffered a loss of power reportedly
caused by a low battery. Its crew were unhurt.
The
RNLI lifeboat returned to Burnham jetty at approximately 22:30.
