lifeboats stay on duty during station resurfacing work
Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI lifeboat Staines Whitefield and its companion D class lifeboat,
the Elsie Francis II, were banished from their comfortable warm
boat house for a week between February 7th and 12th while the
lifeboat compound was resurfaced.
The work involved scraping away around one and a half inches of
old faulty tarmac and replacing it with a new layer of slightly
different format, which will be more compatible with a lifeboat
station. The work was carried out under guarantee with no expense
to the RNLI.
Both lifeboats were stationed in the Burnham-On-Sea car park in
a temporary compound (pictured above) under the watchful eye of
a security guard.
Thus, the Burnham-On-Sea station remained ready for action throughout
the resurfacing work.
