Burnham-On-Sea
lifeboat crew conducts search for teenager

A
Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat crew was called out at 3am on Sunday morning
(March 1st) to help search for a missing teenager in the River
Parrett near Combwich.
Two
helicopters and Coastguards from Minehead and Watchet were also
involved in the night-time operation.
The
Puffin lifeboat launched from Burnham-On-Sea jetty and, as it
was almost the bottom of the tide, the crew found it difficult
to navigate the river, at times manoeuvring the lifeboat through
slippery mud.
Coastguard
control at Swansea later diverted them to search the sea towards
Hinkley point and they were stood down at 4.53am when police successfully
found the teenager at Hinkley Point.
Burnham
Lifeboat Operations manager Ricky Holmes told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"This was an extensive search conducted by the Exmoor Sector
manager, Exmoor Search and Rescue team, Watchet and Minehead Coastguards,
a police helicopter, and a search and rescue helicopter from RAF
Chivenor, plus our lifeboat."
