New
Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat shop welcomes its first customers
Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI's new seafront shop welcomed its first customers on Saturday
morning, February 11th, when it opened for the first time since
a major refit.
A
steady trickle of customers visited the premises - near to Sunspot
Amusements - during the day to buy a wide selection of collectables
and merchandise.
The
shop will be officially opened by BBC TV presenter John Inverdale
on Monday February 27th at mid-day, but is open during the half-term
school holiday to cater for holidaymakers and visitors in the
town.
Run
by Burnham RNLI's Supporters Group, it has been completely refitted
both inside and out ahead of the launch.
Jendy
Weekes, who is the Chairman of Burnham RNLI's Supporters' Group,
said: "It's
been a super day - a really great start for the shop."
She
also appealed for volunteers to come forward to help with the
running of the shop.
"If
anyone is able to spare the odd hour or two during the week and
would be willing to come along and help in the shop, we would
be delighted to see them. Prospective volunteers can come along
to the shop or contact us at the shop on 784213 or by ringing
me direct on 641370," she said.
