Cheddar
firm puts its best feet forward in the name of RNLI fundraising!
Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI has received a cash boost of £172 thanks to the fundraising
efforts of a Cheddar company.
The
fun-loving staff at Connaught Service Force wore novelty shoes
to work in support of the RNLI's annual SOS Day when people across
the UK are encouraged to wear trainers or unusual shoes for the
day and raise money at the same time.
The
Cheddar company raised a total of £172 from a raffle and
donations. Connaught
Drainage Administrator Sarah Parsons said: "We thought we
would liven things up and wear novelty footwear and spangley shoes
instead of just trainers."
"I
only found out about SOS Day last week from the RNLI magazine
so it was a bit of a rush to organise the raffle as well, but
everyone supported the cause magnificently and donated lots of
prizes. Star prize was an extra days paid leave donated
by Connaught."
"Also
lottery tickets, bottles of wine, choccies and homemade cakes
were donated by members of staff. In total, we raised £172.00
- £22 from SOS day and £150.00 from the raffle. The
raffle money will go direct to Burnham-On-Sea RNLI."
Burnham
Lifeboat Press Officer Mike Lang said: "They sound like they
enjoyed themselves taking part in this important event. The support
is very welcome."
"SOS
day reminds us of the wonderful rescue work carried out by our
volunteer lifeboat crews."
