Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI gives sea safety advice to Sailing Club members

Almost
fifty members of Burnham Sailing Club were treated to a specially
arranged sea safety talk by newly appointed Burnham RNLI Sea Safety
officer Chris Spencer.
Afterwards,
Chris and his two deputies, Nick Reading and Dave Humphrey, examined
club members lifejackets and talked generally about the
RNLIs free sea safety checks.
Chris
said during his talk: "After forty years of sea experience,
I was gob-smacked by what I learnt during my RNLI Sea Safety Officer
training."
During
the talk Chris discussed the use of flares, passage plans, and
the possibility of follow-up sea safety visits.
RNLI
spokesman Mike Lang said: "Sea safety visits are absolutely
free and involve confidential friendly discussion about your vessels
safety equipment and general sea safety." The
contact telephone number is 0800 328 060.
