Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI opens brand new seafront souvenir shop
Burnham-On-Sea
RNLI has acquired a shop on the town's busy seafront in order
to continue fundraising efforts all year round.
The
building, which is situated next to Sunspot Amusements, overlooks
The Esplanade and town jetty.
The
RNLI station supporters group have put the shop into immediate
use for selling RNLI Christmas souvenirs.
Once
the shop has been refitted with RNLI branding there will be an
official opening ceremony.
Jendy
Weekes, chairman of the Burnham RNLI Supporters Group, and a driving
force in finding a shop in the town, said that she was delighted
that she and her fellow supporters - all of whom are volunteers
- now have a base from which to sell their merchandise.
Jendy
said: "Although we are a very new group, we are determined
to be supportive to the crew here at Burnham and to ensure that
we sell as much as we can. The shop will be open most days between
now and 16th December."
"The
funds we raise will help maintain the high professional standards
of the RNLI and the volunteer crews. To be on call 24 hours a
day and to launch in atrocious weather conditions takes guts and
determination. I am sure not many people would want to do what
all RNLI crewmembers do."
"They
deserve all the support we can give them."
