Burnham-On-Sea
lifeboat returns to town after refit

Burnham-On-Sea's
Atlantic 75 lifeboat, the 'Staines Whitfield', has returned to
the town after a five-month re-fit at the lifeboat repair centre
on the Isle of Wight.
During
the upgrade work, the boat was stripped down to its component
parts, the hull was resprayed, and all worn parts were replaced.
The
lifeboat's engines were also upgraded to 75hp Yamahas in line
with the RNLI common spares strategy.
On
the lifeboat's return earlier this week, all crew members were
acquainted with the revised engine maintenance and start and running
procedures.
Crewmember
Steve Atkinson said: "The new up-rated engines are more responsive
than the old ones and it is great to have our own lifeboat back."
The
photos show the boat back in the forecourt of Burnham RNLI station
and, below, RNLI Divisional Engineer Mark Evans explaining engine
refinements to several of the crewmembers.
