'Flat
Stanley' makes an appearance at Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat station!

Burnham-On-Sea
Lifeboat Station had a visit from one of its most unusual visitors
this week... a drawing of a person called 'Flat Stanley'!
'Stanley'
is a made-up character invented by schoolchildren as part of a
project at Horbury St Peter's CE Junior School in Wakefield, West
Yorkshire.
The
project started off with a fictitious character called 'Stanley'
who was apparently run over by a car and flattened. Now, Stanley
has miraculously recovered and is leading an active life with
lots of adventures.
Pupils
and relatives have to take photographs or draw pictures of Stanley
in interesting places, and talk about his adventures.
This
particular 'Flat Stanley' was drawn by a pupil called Mark Simmons
and introduced to the Burnham-On-Sea RNLI lifeboat station by
his grandmother Sandra Taylor on Sunday February 5th
The
photo shows
lifeboat helmsman Jason Coombes with Flat Stanley at the bow
of Burnham-On-Sea's main lifeboat, the Staines Whitfield.
Sandra
Taylor said: "We were very pleased with the good-will and
co-operation shown by the Burnham-On-Sea volunteers. This will
make an interesting adventure for Mark's Stanley."
Lifeboats
Press Officer Mike Lang adds: "We were only too pleased to
co-operate with Sandra's request, and shall be sending the school
a copy of the photograph."
