Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat station appeals for volunteer tractor drivers

Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat station is seeking two volunteer tractor drivers to join its shore team to provide daytime cover.

The tractor drivers play an important role within the RNLI shore crew, using specialised tractors to launch and recover lifeboats on the beach, then returning them to the lifeboat station.

Tractor drivers can be male or female and must be able to reach the station in Pier Street within ten minutes during a daytime callout.

Lifeboat Operations Manager Rick Holmes told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Experience is not necessary. We can provide all the training, and successful applicants will have the enjoyment of working within a close, friendly team."

Applicants need to show a commitment to regular Wednesday evening training sessions, and a sufficient level of physical fitness. There is a lower age limit of 21 years for insurance purposes. Call 07889 815860 for more details.
