Trent
class RNLI lifeboat from Barry visits Burnham-On-Sea

A
Trent Class lifeboat from Barry in South Wales sailed into Burnham-On-Sea
on Sunday morning (August 13th) during a visit to the town.
The
lifeboat's crew took the short trip across the Bristol Channel
on the 'Dora Foster McDougall' to visit the town on a pre-arranged
visit.
The
crew were welcomed by members of Burnham-On-Sea RNLI shortly after
10am when the boat moored at the Sailing Club pontoons in the
River Brue.
The
Trent class lifeboat, which is 14 metres in length and has a top
speed of 25 knots, is designed to lie afloat, either at deep-water
moorings or at a berth. Introduced in 1994, the Trent class shares
the same hull shape as the Severn class lifeboat, but is a smaller
version. As with the Severn, its propellers are protected so it
can take ground without damage.
