Bristol
pub goers set to walk from Burnham to Brean in aid of RNLI
A
group of Bristol pub goers are set to take part in a sponsored
walk from Burnham-On-Sea to Brean to raise money for the RNLI.
Regulars
from the Engineers Arms in Bedminster, Bristol (pictured) will
travel by bus to Burnham on Sunday July 30th where they will walk
from the town's seafront lifeboat shop to Brean's Beachcomber
pub.
Organiser
Asa Davies said: "I am a member of the ROAB of the Prince
George
lodge, which has been going for over 100 years, and inspired me
to help other people. I am also a customer of the Engineers Arms
in Bedminster."
"Our
new landlord has cleared the pub of troublemakers and I have asked
the locals of the pub if they could help me in raising some money
for the RNLI. Every person has responded with a yes, and around
22 of us are going to walk from Burnham to Brean as well popping
in to the local pubs to collect money. I would like to raise at
least £1,200 as this will kit out one RNLI crewmember."
"We
ask the men and woman of the RNLI to volunteer to do this work,
putting their lives in danger, so the least I can do is to help
in any way I can. Our transport is being supplied by First Bus
and a driver, Mr Doug Hunt, is helping us out by supplying his
time at no charge."
They
hope to leave Bristol at 10.00am and set off on their walk at
around 11.00am. Lifeboat Press Officer Mike Lang said: "We
welcome their support and I am looking forward to meeting Mr Davies
on the day."
