Lifeboat crew practises launch from Burnham-On-Sea Yacht Club

The Atlantic 75 lifeboat launches from Burnham Yacht ClubBurnham-On-Sea RNLI launched its Atlantic 75 lifeboat from the town's Yacht Club this week as part of an exercise to practice launching the craft away from the town's main slipway.

The Staines Whitfield lifeboat usually enters Bridgwater Bay from Burnham's jetty but this location could become blocked and put of action during very rough weather, so an alternative launch location is required.

An RNLI spokesman said the exercise had been very successful. He added: "It helped both the crew and shore helpers get used to launching the lifeboat from a different location which could prove invaluable in the future."
