Lifeboats
out on exercise from Burnham Yacht Club
Despite
strong winds and stormy seas, both of Burnham's lifeboat crews
were out on exercise on Sunday February 13th.
With
the town's main jetty out of action due to the poor weather, the
RNLI's Atlantic 75 and D-Class lifeboats were launched and recovered
from the
beach adjacent to the Yacht Club
at the southern end of The Esplanade.
Our
photo shows the Staines Whitfield Atlantic 75 lifeboat being recovered
by the RNLI launching tractor.
Burnham's
lifeboats usually enter Bridgwater Bay via the main jetty and
beach, but the this is freqently closed during high tides and
rough weather, so practises at the Yacht Club are performed regularly.
