New
'bin day' schedule for Burnham-On-Sea and Sedgemoor
A re-zoning exercise across the Sedgemoor district has become necessary due to the number of new housing developments throughout Sedgemoor and the changes to the waste collection service with the introduction of kerbside recycling and the introduction of a garden waste collection service. In order to gain efficiencies within the service, five distinct zones have been created so all the refuse/recycling collection vehicles will be working in the same area on the same day. This should make maximum use of the rubbish collection vehicles and reduce the number of trips to landfill sites and recycling depots. It should also ensure that whenever possible any reported missed collections can be collected that day by another vehicle working in the same area.

New garden waste collection service: A new fortnightly garden waste collection service will be introduced this autumn and householders will be given the choice of whether they want to use the service. However, once the service is introduced householders will not be able to include garden waste in with their weekly refuse. Householders
will have the choice of container in which to collect and store the
garden waste - either a wheeled bin or paper sacks. There will be a
modest charge for this collection service which will be £15.00
per year for a wheeled bin or For
