The Rugby World Cup trophy won by the England Rugby Union team in 2003 is on display in Burnham-On-Sea this weekend.
John Piper, chairman of Burnham Rugby Club, said: "It's a weekend to be savoured and remembered. We are delighted to have been granted the honour of being able to display The William Webb Ellis Trophy." "It's a great opportunity for people of all ages to see this wonderful trophy." There's a fee of £1 for car parking but entrance to view the Cup is free. There are also stalls selling replica rugby kits and merchandise, plus entertainment for all ages including gladiator-style challanges, quad biking and various refreshments. The people responsible for bringing the Cup to Burnham are shown in the photo above. They are Lorrayne Ventour-Page (Club RFU co-ordinator), John Piper (Burnham Rugby Club Chairman) and Christine Piper (Burnham Rugby Club) with the Rugby World Cup.
