blimey! Apple weekend pulls in the crowds at Garden World
Hundreds
of people visited Sanders Garden World near Burnham-On-Sea at
the weekend to see one of the largest collection of apple varieties
in the South West.
Staff
at the garden centre, in association with local apple growers
and cider makers, put together a display of 500 apple varieties
for the sites fifth annual Apple & Cider Weekend.
Garden
centre Managing Director, Peter Burks, explained: "We joined
forces with Brogdale Horticultural Trust in Kent to display 500
apple varieties for people to see. It was one of the largest collections
in the South West."
Customers
were offered the chance to sample different apples for free and
receive expert advice on how to select, grow and care for apple
trees. The event was a celebration of Somerset apples and cider
and coincided with the UKs annual Common Ground Apple Day.
