Garden
World's Bible garden attracts hundreds of onlookers
Hundreds
of people attended a weekend devoted to plants from the Bible
at Sanders Garden World, near Burnham-On-Sea, during the Bank
Holiday weekend.
The
garden centre put together a display garden, entitled The
Olive Grove a Biblical Garden dedicated to Peace,
where visitors were able to sit quietly and enjoy the sights and
aromas of the biblically linked shrubs, trees and flowers.
Reverend
Brian Milloy from Hope Baptist Church in Highbridge, who helped
organise the event, explained: "Taking our inspiration from
the bible, the people of Churches Together in Burnham and District
put together the garden to create a restful and tranquil place."
He
added: "You may be amazed how many people look for peace
and solitude in a garden. Sometimes, particularly when you have
a problem to solve, a hurt to heal, or a memory to cherish, a
garden can be just what you need."
The
Biblical garden was designed as a place for people to find some
spiritual tranquillity and quiet and used plants such as palms,
vines and olives, which are all mentioned in the Bible.
During
the free weekend, garden centre staff gave advice to visitors
on how to create calm and relaxing areas within their gardens.
The
Biblical garden will be on display until Saturday, September 3.
