Walkers along the seafront watched as the ship - measuring approximately 20 metres in length - came to rest on a bank of sand in the shallow channel to the west of Stert, approximately two miles from Burnham. A Swansea Coastguard spokeswoman said the ship had "slightly misjudged the tide," and added that the crew had not been in any danger. It is understood that the ship was laying a new buoy at the time. The vessel was able to continue on its way later in the afternoon when the incoming tide set it afloat. RELATED STORIES: |
