Double
dose of gloom for Burnham-On-Sea as two more shops close
Burnham-On-Sea
suffered a double dose of bad news after two more shops in the
town closed down - just weeks after several others also pulled
the shutters down.
Crandon
Computer Supplies in Cross Street and the Little Brum gift shop
in the High Street have both closed.
Gerald
Crandon, pictured outside his shop, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Sadly,
we just can't continue any longer with trade the way it is."
"We're
simply not selling enough to sustain our business. It's been getting
quieter and quieter over the last six months."
"It's
all the more sad that some people have been coming into the shop
and not buying an item just because it's 50p cheaper in Weston
or on the Web. People
in Burnham should be supporting shops in the town and understanding
that paying a little more is to the benefit of their community."
Mr
Crandon thanked his customers for their loyal support over the
last two years and said he hopes to pursue another business idea
in the area.
The
news comes just weeks after phone company Bridgwater Communications
closed its High Street shop and estate agent CJ Hole shut its
Burnham branch.
