New owner sought for Burnham-On-Sea swimming
pool

A
search for a new owner to take over the running of Burnham-On-Sea's
swimming pool is about to begin.
Sedgemoor
District Council told Burnham-On-Sea.com it is testing the market
to see whether there are any companies who would be interested
in either managing and/or investing in either or both Burnham-On-Sea
Pool and Bridgwater's Splash.
An
'Expressions of Interest' advertisement is to be placed in the
leisure industry trade magazine Leisure Opportunities to
be published on January 10th and in local newspapers the same
week.
Council
spokesperson Claire Faun said: "Interested parties are encouraged
to read and follow the instructions given."
"The
Council will evaluate any offers using a pre-qualification questionnaire,
which will include an assessment of the financial status; technical
capacity and ability of any interested party."
"The
results will help to guide the Council in making an eventual decision
on the future of the Splash and Burnham Pool."
The
future of Burnham-On-Sea's 30-year-old swimming pool has been
hanging in the balance for several months.
Extensive
maintenance work is needed to bring the facilities and changing
rooms up to modern standards and if a new owner cannot be found
the building could be rebuilt or the site sold off.
