Major refurbishment gets underway at town's
tourist information centre
Burnham-On-Sea's
Tourist Information Centre is to get a new look in time for the
2006 tourist season.
Sedgemoor
District Council is about to begin a major refurbishment of the
seafront building.
It
opened more than 15 years ago and has received over a million
visitors during that time.
The
office will be refitted to allow for more display area for the
saleable stock, including souvenirs and maps.
Cindy
Tee, Visitor Services Manager, said: "During February, the
office will need to be closed to personal visitors as the refit
will include some building works. However, customers can still
contact us on our usual telephone number or by email as both are
being redirected to our Cheddar office."
"We
have also made sure that copies of the Sedgemoor Holiday Guide
can be picked up in the library, at The Princess and at the swimming
pool in Burnham."
Staff
at Burnham TIC have been celebrating in recent days after receiving
the top score in the country for their fast and efficient handling
of email enquiries. The award came after a nationwide mystery
shopper test. They were marked from 100 and achieved a score of
88, with the national average being 32.
