High-flying girls are ready to take to the
skies above Brean!

The
worlds only formation wing-walking team will take to the
skies above Brean Leisure Park this weekend during the village's
annual rally.
The
glamorous 'Utterly Butterlys' - who are sponsored by a brand of
butter - are scheduled to perform a daring 12-minute display on
Sunday January 29th at around 1pm to mark the 10th anniversary
of the Brean Rally.
Two
1940s Boeing Stearman biplanes will fly over the Brean Leisure
Park, weather-permitting, and then peform a sequence of formation
aerobatics.
Pulling
up to 4G - four times their own body weight - the pilots will
loop, roll and turn the biplanes through the sky with daring wing-walkers
waving and performing handstands on the wing against 150 mph wind
pressure.
Speaking
to Burnham-On-Sea.com this week, a spokesperson for the group
said they were looking forward to the event.
"The
most exhilarating part of wing-walking is climbing around the
aircraft in flight," says art student Poppy, one of the wing-walkers.
"We have learned to climb from the open cockpit of the biplane
up onto the wing against extreme wind pressure and for our final
flypast we will stand in a position between the cockpit and the
wing to wave at the crowd during a knife-edge pass!"
The
2006 Brean Regency Stages Rally will be held on Saturday January
28th and Sunday January 29th.
Entry
to the rally on Saturday opens at 9am with the race starting at
11am. On the Sunday it opens at 7.30am and the rally re-starts
at 9am.
Car
parking is £7 on Saturday and £10 on Sunday and both
days include a souvenir programme.
