Double
yellow line error amuses Burnham-On-Sea residents

A
Burnham-On-Sea resident could hardly believe his eyes when he
spotted double-yellow lines had been painted right across the
entrance to a road in the town.
Somerset
County Council recently re-painted the 'no parking' lines along
Oxford Street, but seemingly made a howler by continuing the lines
right across the entrance to Ham Lane, pictured above.
Arthur
Thorogood, of nearby Ashley Avenue, walks along the stretch of
road most days and was left rubbing his eyes in disbelief.
"I
could hardly believe my eyes," he told Burnham-On-Sea.com
this week.
"I
thought it was a joke until I walked over and had a closer look
to check the lines were genuine."
"They
really do stretch right the way across the entrance to the lane,
which is an adopted road."
"I
contacted the county council and told them about the situation
and they said someone would investigate."
"Rather
worringly, these lines probably mean that disabled motorists could
now legally park across the entrance to the lane and block in
the residents," added Arthur (pictured).
