About Us

BIARS (Burnham Information And Rescue Support) is the organisation formed to run the Tourist Information Centre in Burnham-On-Sea, Somerset.

Who’s behind BIARS?

The group was set up in early 2011 to oversee the day-to-day management of the centre on The Esplanade from April, when ownership was handed over from Sedgemoor District Council.

BIARS is operated entirely by volunteers, who are selling charity merchandise from BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat) and The Coastguard Association, handing out sea safety advice from the two groups, and also providing tourist information to visitors and residents.

As well as a valuable source of local information and events the Information Centre is a place where you can book tickets for local theatres, coaches and attractions. There is now a wide a range of gifts available to buy – choose from local photographs, greetings cards, books, Bristol Blue glass, souvenirs and handmade crafts.
