The family of Michael James Passmore Baker are saddened to announce that he passed away peacefully on 3rd July, aged 94.
Many will remember Mike as the manager of Barclays Bank in Burnham On Sea from 1968 to 1980 and then later at Highbridge branch until he retired in 1988.
Mike was a keen member of: The Rural & Philanthropic Lodge of Freemasons in Burnham, Burnham & Berrow Golf Club, Burnham Bowls Club, 41 Club and for 20 years served as Treasurer and later Chairman of The Abbeyfield Society.
As a gifted rugby player, he played seven seasons for Gloucester RFC First XV, an achievement that remained one of his proudest. He later enjoyed skittles, skiing, golf and bowls, relishing not only the competition but also the friendships that sport created but his greatest joy was always his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those who would like to help celebrate his life are invited to St Mary’s Church, Berrow, at 1.00pm on Friday 31st July and afterwards at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club.
